“swaaray” is actually a phonetic spelling of the word “soiree“, which is defined as “an evening party or gathering, typically in a private house, for conversation or music”.
First coined by us, swaaray, in May of 2025 in the subreddit r/SlangOfTheDay. We felt that “swaaray” was a perfect fit because it captured the essence of a soiree—a bit relaxed, but still with a touch of elegance.
